Dr. Shanny Shmuel is a licensed psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She is passionate about collaborating with clients to provide evidence-based treatment that meets their individual needs. In her therapy, Dr. Shmuel uses a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT) with a systemic lens to always consider the context in which a person lives. She believes that individuals are shaped by their experiences, as well as their interactions with the significant people and systems in their lives. She values consultation with teachers, physicians, and other professionals to provide holistic care for each client. Dr. Shmuel has experience supporting children, families, and adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, behavioral problems, executive functioning challenges, learning challenges and other school/college difficulties, family conflict, and parenting. She is also skilled in psychoeducational assessment and is a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania. 

Dr. Shmuel’s specialties include anxiety and ADHD across the lifespan. Using a cognitive behavioral approach to anxiety, Dr. Shmuel helps individuals identify maladaptive thoughts and actions so they can find ways to reduce anxiety’s impact across different areas of their lives. Whether working with children or adults, Dr. Shmuel personalizes treatment to fit each individual or family.

Dr. Shmuel also provides therapy for ADHD that can help adolescents, adults, and parents of children with ADHD. Dr. Shmuel recognizes that every individual with ADHD has a unique experience of how it affects their life, and works with you to understand how it has been impacting your functioning. Dr. Shmuel has experience working in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, schools, college counseling centers, and psychiatric hospitals. Dr. Shmuel obtained her Masters of Arts and doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, where she focused her training in the areas of school psychology and child, adolescent, and family therapy. Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Shmuel obtained her Masters of Science in counseling and clinical health psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Shmuel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and History from Brandeis University.
